| U.F.O.'s in OKC... 06/14/08 8:23pm
Yesterday was something else. I was asleep in the van during the drive to Oklahoma City, when Mike woke me up to point out landmarks he recognized from “The Fearless Freaks”, a documentary about one of my favorite bands: The Flaming Lips.

We saw the Vietnamese restaurant that was once the Long John Silver’s singer Wayne Coyne worked in for years. We saw the park and fountain from the “Waiting For a Superman” video.

Curious, Mike and I cued up a copy of “Fearless Freaks”, noticed the clearly visible road signs in front of Wayne Coyne’s home, and punched it into the GPS. Oddly enough, Wayne’s home was walking distance from the venue we were playing that night.

After much deliberation and a stalker-ish stroll by (we noticed Wayne’s wife accepting a UPS box from Urban Outfitters) we decided to write Wayne a note explaining our appreciation for The Flaming Lips’ music and the inspiration they’ve offered Showbread over the years, bundle it together with some copies of our records, and leave it on his doorstep. Creepy? Maybe, but we figured this was the most polite distinction between stalking and fan-boy admiration.

Oddly enough, at the exact moment Ricky and Landon approached Wayne’s doorstep with the bundle as we watched from the van, Wayne himself pulled into the driveway. We all stepped out to meet him. He was very gracious and kind, gladly excepted our cd’s and invited us to a screening of the long anticipated Flaming Lips movie “Christmas On Mars”… It was awesome.

The show ran late and it rained a lot, but we made it to the screening. It was held in a tent behind what used to be an old rock climbing building. We missed the first half of the movie, but we were happy to experience it at all.

Life is weird and great.

on another note, a few days ago we got to spend some time with our pal Reese Roper, who is actually coming close to finishing the third Brave Saint Saturn album... We got to listen to some of it and I'm very excited. If you haven't heard Brave Saint's second record "The Light Of Things Hoped For" you are missing out, it is one of my all-time favorites. Go to bravesaintsaturn.com to read more about it. Mike, Patrick and myself are also working on another music project with Reese which we are excited about... anyway. more to come.

-Josh Dies

p.s. go see The Incredible Hulk. It's not as amazing as Iron Man, but it's still raw.

tour is going wonderfully. we have had very interesting ups and downs and are very happy to be on the road again.

today we had a day off. ourselves and the ember days went to see "the strangers", we ate at chipotle then played kick-ball in the park.

more to come.

if you're a horror fan, PLEASE go see "the strangers"... it is terrifying and will remind you of the good ol' days of horror. ignore the people who complain about it.

Anorexia and Nervosa are both in stores now.

| 5/13/08 today is the day
today is the day...

Our new double album opus: "Anorexia" and "Nervosa" are now in stores. These are not just albums, they are experiences that take place in your mind, ears and heart.

Each record comes with a special storybook to be read along with the music. These albums tell the tragic/beautiful stories of two sisters...

Best Buy is offering a "2 for $20" deal to make it easier to buy both albums at once. DO NOT buy from itunes or similar digital retailers, they will not come with the story books.

Go out, buy both albums, take this journey with Anorexia and her sister Nervosa.

This is by far the greatest work Showbread has completed.

RAW ROCK KILLS.

| 05/11/08 7:05pm 2 DAYS LEFT...
This Tuesday, May 13th, 2008... Showbread will be releasing two new albums: "Anorexia" and "Nervosa".
This project began as an idea in the fall of 2006. It developed into a story in January of 2007. Songs were written based on that story a few months later, and finally in the fall of 2007, the project was recorded.

These records are unlike any records that I know of... They are literally a song by song sountdrack to a written story that comes packaged with each album. As the story develops, so does the music, as the tone darkens, so does the music, as each character lives and reacts, the music represents that, song by song, chapter by chapter, minute by minute and even second by second.

Musically, we've gone somewhere we haven't been before. These albums are more epic, vast in scale, aggressive and harsh than what we've done before. They are more built up, layered and multi dimensional. They are rough, hard to listen to, beautiful, ominous, blistering, ugly and meaningful.

The stories of these two sisters are very dear to are hearts. Their story is one we can deeply relate to and nothing this band has done before is more important, special or wonderful than these two albums.

From the bottom of our hearts, we encourage anyone and everyone interested to go out and purchase these albums on tuesday. Sit down alone in a nice quiet room. Open the story books, press play, and go on a journey with Anorexia and her sister Nervosa. Please tell everyone you know...

Best Buy is offering both records for under $10 as a part of a "2 for $20" deal so Best Buy is most likely the cheapest place to purchase "Anorexia Nervosa". We must STRONGLY discourage anyone from purchasing from itunes and other mp3 retailers. Digital copies of the record, although cheap, are poor audio quality and WILL NOT come with the story which is 50% of the album experience.

As always, we also discourage downloading leaked, stolen versions of the record(s).
It is not a matter of money in our packets, but rather a matter of us being able to continue to make music. More stolen records=less cd sales=less concern from record labels=less artistic freedom=trouble for bands you enjoy.

I know that this project, these records, this story were all made for a special purpose. Please enjoy.

We will see you on the road this summer as we bring this story to life on stage.

| 4/24/08 11:00pm More retail news...
as posted below, smartpunk.com is doing a "Both records for $20" deal with their pre-order, if you order from them your copy will also be autogrpahed by Showbread...(limited to the first 300 copies...)

Best Buy has a similar offer with each record retailing at $9.99 upon their release so you can also get both for $20...

itunes may try to fool you with with their very inexpensive offer of each record for $7.99, but DO NOT BE FOOLED! Buying from itunes means you WILL NOT get a digital copy of the CD booklet that contains the story, which is absolutely ESSENTIAL to the Anorexia Nervosa experience. Not only that, but you'll recieve mp3 files which have an audio bit rate far poorer than CD quality.

DO NOT BUY ANOREXIA NERVOSA FROM ITUNES!

| Pre-Order autographed copies of Anorexia Nervosa...
Showbread's double album, read-along storybook masterpiece comes out in less than 3 weeks!

If you pre-order Anorexia Nervosa from Smartpunk.com, not only will you be able to get both records for $20 (that's $10 each...)
But your copies will also be personally autographed by Showbread.

This special offer is limited to 300 copies, so don't wait around if your interested.

| PRE-ORDER ANOREXIA NERVOSA
There are a couple of places that are taking pre-orders for Showbread's double album, experimental "read along" format opus: "Anorexia Nervosa"; a horrifying/moving tale of the lives of two sisters, packaged with 10 chapter short stories. The albums will be released in four weeks, on May 13th.

Often, people who pre-order wind up getting the album a day early... that isn't a promise mind you, but it is a common thing.

PRE-ORDER "ANOREXIA"
From Amazon.com
or
From Bestbuy.com

UPDATE: all plans to have a special edition volume of Anorexia Nervosa are currently on hiatus. we VERY much wanted to release a special edition and even offered to fund it ourselves, but couldn't work it out with the label. It's possible there could be a special edition in the future, depending on the monetary "success" of the records, but there are no plans at this time.
having said all that, we could not be more thrilled with the way the standard edition packaging and artwork has turned out!

you can read more and discuss on the official Showbread forum

| 4/12/08 7:41pm goodbye JG...
As many people have already heard, John Giddens (aka JG) has decided to leave Showbread.

Living in a van, being poor and sleeping on floors for six years makes people go a little crazy. JG has decided to leave behind the life of the traveling circus in order to pursue some kind of normalcy (a “real” job, a family, etc.)... On april 6th, John was present for the filming of a Showbread music video, which was his last activity as a member of the band.

John has been part of the insanity that is Showbread since 2003… He’s seen and experienced more bizarre and wonderful things than a lot of folks, and here is where he takes a bow and rides into the sunset.

There were no bitter words and no regrets; JG knew his time was up, as did we. We love him like a brother and remain dear friends to the end.

Showbread exists because of a very personal and divine calling to bring something strange and beautiful into the world. The entity that is Showbread is much, much bigger than any one person participating in it at any time… Showbread is about a very personal truth that is very real to us and manifests itself in the form of bizarre music... not about a band member or "keytar". We'll miss JG on the road dearly, but we know his decision is in the best interest of himself as well as the band.

This is the most exciting time for Showbread… we have completed our best work ever and God is preparing us to unleash it on the world by rebuilding and strengthening us. Believe me when i say this is the best place the band has ever been, creatively and spiritually... We will very much appreciate the loving support of the Raw Rock community.

In the mean time, we’ll have someone else along playing synthesizers on the YOU CAN’T SAVE YOURSELF tour, which begins, may 16th…

Both of the new records come out in a little over a month…
